How can that be? Everyone was so sure he started it, walloped a copper, had to be brought down, etc., etc …

I love it when that happens. It’s a funny old world.
Regardless of Eric Joyce’s drinking antics, it is well past time that the nine subsidized bars at the House of Common Thieves were closed. It is offensive to the public to have to continue subsidizing drink for politicians and, in any event, they should not be drinking at work.
They also need to stop subsidized bars in the Scottish parliament, and in Scottish councils for the same reasons.
