Is this a sign that cmmon sense is breaking out at last ?? Bert Frater must be eminded of ths promise at evry available opportnity until he honours it.

Many many moons ago totally fed up and frustrated with the way the upper management at SPA were behaving I suggested to CE Ms Jane Maciver that we should have a meeting to clarify certain matters which were obviously at odds with good practice in the running of the port. After some time elapsed I received at around 0900 on a Friday an e-mail which had been sent after a board meeting very late the previous night suggesting I meet the board at 1100 that day. Naturally I had expected a bit more notice and suggested that a fresh date be offered at which two experienced stakeholders and myself would meet with the board at a mutually suitable time. Having been on the board for some time previously and being well aware of the limitations of the minute taking and production I suggested that there be an agenda produced, there be a neutral chairperson, three of us stakeholders, as many board members as she could muster and an experienced note-taker who would produce an accurate minute of the meeting within hours rather than the weeks which was the SPA standard at that time, This plan was rejected out of hand by Ms Maciver and has ever since been referred to as “he has been invited to meet the board but has refused to do so”. While not an out and out untruth it is not the full truth and as far as I know it was never presented to the board for their consideration. For what it is worth, Mr Maciver two pieces of advice, firstly as they say in the Lodge “Be cautious” and secondly as they say in the Girl Guides/Boy Scouts “Be prepared”.
