Police Scotland in the north is investigating historic reports of alleged abuse from former pupils at Fort Augustus Abbey School. The investigation followed a report in March 2013, by a former pupil of the Abbey, of sex abuse at the school during the 1980s.
Further reports have since been made and the investigation now extends to liaison with a number of law enforcement agencies across and outwith the UK.
Detective Chief Inspector Pamela Ross said: “Further individuals were identified as part of the investigation and following recent media coverage a further number of former pupils have come forward to speak to us.
“We understand that it must be very difficult to speak about such matters, but if anyone has any information about this case, they are encouraged to come forward and report this to Police.
She said any such reports would be directed to the enquiry team and investigated and dealt with very sensitively by trained officers. Anyone with information should contact Police by calling 101.
