My name is Iain Maciver. I live on a Scottish island with a wife, a daughter and a Miniature Schnauzer. Depending on which day it is, I may be a news reporter, a feature writer, a broadcaster, a publicist or a columnist.
This blog is mostly a series of articles I have written elsewhere or sometimes just for this blog on a range of issues – some serious, mostly not. I write a Monday column in the Press and Journal and I pen monthlies for two websites.
My style is light. There are only a very few things in life I take seriously. These include Amnesty International and for more than 10 years I have been part of its Urgent Action Network. I also take very seriously Plan UK, the child sponsorship charity. If you have the time or can spare a few pounds a month, please consider becoming involved in both.
I am also a content writer. If you want an article written on a particular subject, whether for promotion, websites or whatever, give me a call. As a freelance contributing writer, I cannot guarantee publication of any particular article in any specific publication. However, as well as any publication in print that may follow, I also post articles on dedicated review websites, etc.
An exiled Scotsman inspires me to do what I do. He is the frustratingly fabulous smart-ass but all-round good egg, AA Gill. You will find him in the Sunday Times. Gill is next to God.
I advise individuals and organisations on writing difficult or sensitive letters. Sometimes I don’t advise; sometimes I just write them.
