Who? Iain Maciver is a freelance broadcaster, writer and publicist. He is a columnist with the north of Scotland daily, the Press and Journal. His radio work mainly consists of interviews with newsmakers for networks around the world. Managements and publicists offering strong, topical interviews for UK, US or global audiences should contact him. He also records TV interviews in HD video and files them to networks worldwide. He helps with publicity for several organisations and for the rock band Coast through Maciver PR.
Where? He lives and works on the Scottish island where he grew up. He lives with his daughter and their Miniature Schnauzer, Hector. His entertaining wife is also around now and again.
When? After a first career in RAF air traffic control, he did a few other jobs before becoming a BBC presenter for the Gaelic service. Then began his stint in print journalism firstly with the South London Guardian, before freelancing with the Evening Standard and various national papers.
What? What riles him is intolerance – something that is often just accepted by meek fellow Hebrideans, for historical reasons, as just a part of life. He is a member of Amnesty International.
How? You have a great news story? Although Iain no longer does day-to-day local news stories, if you have an interesting or unusual tale that needs national or international coverage, he has the contacts to get you in-depth coverage. One of his specialisms is negotiating fees from editors that are many times better than people can get themselves. Just give him a call.
