Brilliant excuse from Sam Chambers, the delightful boss of GB Oils / Scottish Fuels et al, who we got to know last week. He was asked about the advert announcing Brogan Fuels was now delivering here, which was roundly condemned here and elsewhere.
Chambers wrote back: “I have now looked into the situation with regard to the “Brogan” ad that appeared in the paper. It was not meant to be and it was down to a simple internal error when the wrong attachment was sent. It was supposed to be an ad for Scottish Fuels.”
He concluded: “Sometimes the Gods can conspire against you.”
Except it’s not that simple. Why would an ad for Scottish Fuels say “now delivering”. Not only does it have the name Brogan Fuels but it also has a pic of a Brogan tanker – not a Scottish Fuels one. Why was that professionally-made advert created in the first place and on whose orders?
I think it may be true what Mr. Chambers says the use of the words Gasoil and Kerosene may be the give away. I have not heard if anybody has phoned the number and asked if it is Brogan’s or not. First thing I would have done had I seen the advert.
However it is a pretty big gaff and does go some way to show the lack of care they take in informing their customers, especially when they know there is no alternative.
Brogan are taking you for a ride
On car and motorbike
They should put their BROGAN on
And take a one way hike
Along with with Tory government
And their local puppeteers
You’d think by now that we’d have learned
From the last 300 years
Taxes have always gone up
From when England came to rule
First it was our crops and land
Now it is OUR fuel
The natives took the cowboy scalp
Now it’s the other way around
They found another kind of axe
To to drive us in thr ground
Income tax and fuel tax
To name just one or two
Don’t you think it’s time to change
The choice is up to you
Centuries,we were so brave
Stood up to English rule
Then English money bought us out
And the rich were very cruel
Thet took our land,our livelyhood
and drove us from the glen
What is so very different
To what was happening then
In ’45 we did rebel
But we did not prevail
Now it is time to rise again
This time we will not fail
Again our nation’s calling
For independent rule
Then we control our destiny
And then of course OUR fuel
This is the kind of thing that Advocacy would dream up.
