Islanders fail to report poor broadband speed – so it will not be fixed

BT tonight finally told a Point customer that there is a major. Should be fixed soon, they said. Only more complaints will ensure it gets more priority.

BT say not enough customers from Lewis have contacted them about poor broadband speeds for them to investigate.  Therefore, they have to assume that the few who report it are merely having problems with their own equipment.

These are the numbers to report it and make them aware that it is a widespread fault.  Remember, if you are with another provider, you have to report a fault to that provider first before taking it to BT.

The customer service script for all providers means they have to suggest it is your own equipment that is faulty first. Then they have to suggest restarts, using other sockets, etc. Put up with all that droid-speak and keep insisting that other people around you have the same problem. They will eventually get the message.

How to complain about BT broadband faults. Residential customers should call these numbers.

  • From a landline: 0800 111 4567
  • From a mobile:   0330 123 4567

These numbers are open 24 hours a day and you must be at your computer when you call as they may ask you to try their speed testing sites.

    Aye that’d be right, I tried to complain to BT yesterday only to be told that average waiting time for a call handler was 30 minutes!! Like I have enough spare time to waste half an hour on hold! Not good enough BT

    I have just spent 1 1/2 hours with a BT engineer. At last they have admitted there is a serious fault on the Isle of Lewis For those Tech Minded Ping speed latentcy 0.00 downl0oad speed 0.01 upload speed 0.001. This is BT’s official speed test.
    By the way best number to contact BT 151 got through in 2minutes

    I was told average waiting time to be 12 mins ,54 mins later I got a response which was about as much use as a glass hammer
