UPDATED – Now with recent photo supplied by his sister
A college student from Hungary who has been touring the UK has gone missing in the Western Isles. Tamás Gádor, who is 27 and from Budapest, was visiting the Stornoway area over the weekend but was reported missing to police there on Wednesday when he failed to return to his accommodation after a night’s camping.
Last night (THURS), his sister Krisztina Gador Meyers, who lives with her family in Ukraine, said her brother was a student at a Hungarian college pursuing a degree in andragogy (engaging adult learners).
.
She said: “He has a wide array of interests, including travelling, photography and acting.”
Her brother had been travelling around the United Kingdom for two months after starting off London.
“We last heard of him on Sunday when he sent us an email about going out camping on the island of Lewis. He was supposed to fly back to Budapest yesterday (Wednesday). “
.
Krisztina said Tamás had never disappeared like this before and she had a message for people in the islands, saying: “Please keep a lookout for him and report if you’ve think you’ve seen him. His family is desperate to have information on his whereabouts.”
.
Their parents also live in Budapest while Krisztina herself lives with her family in Kyiv, Ukraine.
.
Tamás is described as being six feet in height, of slim build, neck-length dark hair, with a beard with but no moustache. He was last seen wearing a bright green waterproof jacket, light-coloured trousers, walking boots and carrying a large rucksack. He had a dome tent with a red rain cover.
.
Island police said it was possible that Mr Tamás made other accommodation arrangements while visiting the area. However, they are keen to speak to him directly, to anyone who has seen a man matching his description or to anyone who knows of his whereabouts on 01851 702222.
