Press release
Following a number of breaks in the mobile signal in the Stornoway area, Na H-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has contacted Vodafone to insist that the fault be rectified urgently.
Angus MacNeil said: “Over the past few weeks, the mobile signal in the Stornoway area has been poor with customers either having a patchy signal or no signal at all. I know that Vodafone were aware of the problem and claim to have resolved the matter. However, many constituents tell me that this is not the case and that the signal is still unreliable.
“Vodafone customers are fast becoming frustrated with the service they are receiving. I have contacted Vodafone and asked why the signal in Stornoway is so poor and what they propose to do to restore normal service.”
I’ve heard that there’s been a lot of problems with Vodafone in general (not just here) recently I think they’ve got some problems with their backbone at the moment.
On a related point does anyone know if the map of network coverage that Angus MacNeil was talking about in September has ever been released?
most things break down from time to time even more so the more technical and complex they are.i would imagine that vodafone are as keen as their customers to rectify the problem.be patient or switch to another network or use the geographic network.how did we ever manage without mobile phones?
An interesting post, and thank you, Tony, for the detailed reply on my own blog. I’m investigating a move from Coventry to, possibly, the Western Isles. Though mobile phone reception is less of a concern for me personally than Internet access, I am curious to know what other providers there are. My own experiences with Vodaphone to date have been poor, and I would be hesitant on going back to their service if, or when, I move.
