Update on the fuel petition

Tesco’s fuel pumps, where are they – it’s the only real thing that’ll sort this. Good luck to CIM and crew though for keeping it alive, what happened to our policitians keeping this in the public eye……..
Indeed the only way to sort it!
Last week – Tesco Dundee £1.29p unleaded. Plus 5p /litre off if you spend more than £50 on your shopping.
The problem with Tesco is that they don’t supply heating oil, pity.
Good point. But if there was a big reduction in fuel prices with Tesco (if they ever appear with fuel pumps) then it’s proof (if ever it’s needed) that Scottish Fuel’s are ripping us off – and just maybe they’d drop the price of domestic fuel then, was that a big flying past……!
What’s the rumors with Tesco, it’s been very quiet lately.
What would the local retailers do then, does anyone actually care, or are there some who do?
Just back from Yorkshire. Tesco fuel £1.39 per lit. Plus extra 5p off for basket containing £50.00 worth of groceries. This in Selby, so I filled the car to the gunwhales!
John.
The BBC have a breakdown of costs of oil production and supply. Cut and paste the link below into your web browser or visit bbc news website and follow links there.

It shows the average cost of a litre of unleaded at £1.34 with 7p for retailer supply costs and margin. So the additional 9p per litre we’re paying is added directly to that. So the question to Scottish Fuels and Outlets is:
Can you justify that extra 9p per litre??
It is not just the oil companies that are discriminating against us in the islands. I have just been informed by my internet provider that, because of the area I live in, my monthly charge is going up by £5 a month. Do they use the same boat to carry the information across? Certainly sometimes the speed of connection suggests they do.
Life in general on these shores has always been somewhat slow.Hell some city dwellers think we still have no electricity or cars, maybe wouldn’t be such a bad thing..everything is more expensive, that the price we pay for our lifestyle, which has more positives than negatives
As John said Tesco will give extra 5p off if you spend £50 on a “basket” of groceries, what they give with one hand they take on the other.talking of giving and taking,Argos are reported to create 18 jobs, how many jobs will be lost as a result?why did hugh matheson, maciver and dart, kenny buller’s,macaulays, stevensons, paddy reid, james mackenzie, nazir mackenzie and macsween, charlie morrison, george mcCormack, rendevue, snows ‘hepworth, islesman, lipton, campbells, cathy’s,henderson, etc etc the list is endless cease trading? l
Murdo. yes, competition can be tough but most of them stopped trading because of old age and death and in one case court action. The truth is that very few here in the islands are interested in being shopkeepers any more. The pool of likely candidates seem to prefer cushy jobs for life with the council.
Then again it’s swings and roundabouts,Hauliers and parcel van operators are providing much needed employment so maybe the amount of people employed far outweighs the loss of convenient local shops
No wonder Hard to compete with large national companies,at least with the council you get well paid for…erm work
Maybe Tesco should fund the shortfall for restoration of the castle, the co op helped fund smith avenue sports facility,be it in exchange for building on the little used Macaulay road pitch both the co op and the community have benefitted over the years
