UPDATE: It is clear from calls received that there have been numerous positive sightings of Mr Macdonald, some as recently as today (Wednesday). However, police at Stornoway say officers have not yet been able to speak to him.
Police are appealing for information after a man from the Isle of Lewis was reported missing.
Former CalMac ferry steward Roddy MacDonald, who is 66 and lives in the village of Aird in Point, has been a well-known sight around Stornoway with his small Lhasa Apso dog, Monty, for many years.
He was reported missing on Tuesday after not being seen since December 20.
Originally from the North Tolsta area of the island, he is described as being about 5ft 10in in height, of large build, with grey hair and he usually wears glasses. Police believe he may have travelled to the Inverness area at some point.
Anyone with information regarding Roddy’s whereabouts or who has seen a man matching his description is asked to call police on 101.
I was talking to Rody in Tesco in Dingwell not sure wes it before Christmus or was it before New Year he tol me he was attending Raigmore .i also reported it to the police but they already had a report from somebody else so hop Rody will turn up.
My sister and her friend were speaking to Roddy in a hotel outside Inverness between Christmas and Newyear. He told them that he was staying at the hotel whilst receiving treatment at Raigmore. I have left a message for my sister to call the police incase she can be of assistance.
