Vodafone is currently in the huff with this blog for pointing out that so many of their island customers have made complaints about rotten service. They did not want anyone to know they were paying out compensation for their poor or absent phone signal – because they were officially denying to other complaining customers and to the media that there was any problem. Gotcha.
Now they won’t even acknowledge my last series of questions earlier this week. Fine. I think the answer is to step up my coverage about how Vodafone actually treats people in the islands. I will get them to speak – even if it’s through their lawyers.
This is a good time to mention I have been contacted by yet another island customer of Vodafone – a very good customer of theirs who they should be looking after, but are not. He wants out of his contracts with them and is looking for advice. Can anyone help this poor chap?
He wrote to me last night and said:
“I have just spent the last two hours on the phone to Vodafone asking to be released from my contracts. They have said that I can only be released if the signal is off for ten consecutive days! The problem is they never admit the problem exists.
“I have five phones with Vodafone at a cost of £175 per month. The compensation they gave me for three days without service was £17.00.
“I very often lose signal for two or three days a week in the same month but it’s not consecutive so doesn’t count to the ten days needed to cancel my contract with them!
“Any advice would be greatly appreciated.”
Update: I hear that some areas got full signal last night (Tuesday), the first time since December 20. According to the peddlers of untruths at Vodafone, of course, there was never a problem because they want to keep your money which, we have learned, they pay little or no tax on (see BBC link below). They think it was all in your imagination – and that is official. The uncaring people who nowadays control Vodafone, and who think the best policy is not to answer questions, think many other islanders are stupid too. And you must be, for staying with a rip-off outfit like that for as long as you did.
I am with Tesco and have never had any probs at all …. some of my friends are with Vodaphone and have this problem constantly
thank goodness somone is taking on vodaphone . that lot have been driving me mad all the time saying there is no recepion problms . thanks .
Change bank details and/or advise bank to stop your debit payments!!!
Why do the council use Vodafone for their corporate contracts when they provide such a shoddy service?
