Video interviews with council candidates – update

My offer for video interviews over Skype caused some interest among candidates up and down the islands. The ones who tried to do it – even the one who went to the mainland to get a webcam – encountered, er, technical problems, or more accurately finger trouble. The results were not usable. At least we tried.

So now if any candidate wants to sit in front of my video camera, as opposed to their own webcam, and answer questions, I shall record that and blog it.  Some candidates have already agreed to do that if it was available. Now it is.

Remember, I will ask a few of my own questions and you can give me up to three questions you would like me to ask you. The end result should be no longer than 10 minutes. Actually, it can be as short as you want.

I cannot guarantee anything except that I will try to make your effort worthwhile with the time and equipment available. Also, with only two weeks left, there wouldn’t be time to interview all 61 candidates, even if they all wanted to do it, which I doubt, so first come, first served.

Candidates should have access to a well-lit room in the Stornoway area and I will come there. Sorry, I am unlikely to be able to travel much outside town due to current commitments and I cannot record them at my place. That would be unfair to other people – not least the wee scrubber I am married to.

Phone or email to make an appointment.

One man and his bunny

This is not my video but it is amazing. This is Champis, the Swedish rabbit. Sheepdogs are now defunct. I hope someone draws it to the attention of Donald Macsween, the presenter of BBC Alba’s version of One Man and his Dog. He’ll be sick. It’s a bit long but it’s even funnier towards the end.

Find out more about Champis on the owners’ blog at : http://gardsbacken.blogspot.com/  If you have the latest version of Google Chrome, for example, it will automatically translate the Swedish bits.
